Into the New Year…
Can you believe it? We’re already 26 days into 2026. I have no idea where time goes. My dad used to say, “The older you get, the quicker time goes by.” I used to think he was crazy, but it’s true. The Book of James says it like this: “You don’t have a clue what tomorrow may bring. For your fleeting life is but a warm breath of air that is visible in the cold only for a moment and then vanishes!” (James 4:14 The Passion Translation)
“You don’t have a clue what tomorrow may bring. For your fleeting life is but a warm breath of air that is visible in the cold only for a moment and then vanishes!” (James 4:14 The Passion Translation)
And so, here we are. Time stands still for no one. Before you know it, we’ll be looking back at the year, wondering where it went, but hopefully, celebrating the wins because of the goodness of God!
Sickness & the Ramifications of Not Resting
I’m writing to you today from my little corner of the world. I started to not feel well Friday evening, but planned to go at it hard on Saturday. Needless to say, that didn’t happen. What I thought was shear exhaustion turned out to be something more. I don’t know what it is, but it came in with the vengeance! I’ve pretty much slept the past 72 hours. And while I’m sure my body was saying I needed the rest, the pressure on my chest and soreness throughout my body says it was/is something else. Even if we could have had church yesterday, there was no way I could have been in attendance. So, I’m thankful for the snow.
A Look Back at January
We spent the first couple of weeks on the New Year talking about putting first things first. Our priorities must align with His will for our lives, both individually and corporately. These priorities are everything that envelop us as the people of God: our spirit, our soul, and our body. He must be first in all things. Easier said than done, eh? It requires trust. It requires faith. It requires discipline.
“But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33 New King James Version)
I also had the privilege of baptizing my future son-in-love! I am so proud of the young man that he is, and the husband and caretaker he is becoming. He and Lilly have an exciting future ahead of them, and I can’t wait to see all that God has in store for them in the coming days!
Last Sunday, my good friend Pastor Tim Wurtz brought his congregation from The Gospel Lighthouse and joined us for service. It was a packed house. We had 67 in attendance! Now we know what this ‘basement of grace’ will look like once it’s filled up.
Pastor Tim’s message, “Stay in Your Lane” was timely and meant for all of us. No matter what our position or calling, when we ‘stay in our lane by holding our peace’ the Lord will fight for us! I don’t know about you, but there are some things I need the Lord to fight for me, but He can’t as long as I’m trying to fight on His behalf!
“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” (Exodus 14:14 New King James Version)
The Days Ahead
As we’re coming into February, I sense strongly that the Lord is going to lay the groundwork for The Mount and our assignment for 2026. I believe it so much that this Sunday, February 1 I’m calling Vision Sunday. Not “vision” as in a destination of where we’re going this year, but rather, releasing a Rhema Word for 2026 that will not only be our guide post as a church, but for our families as well.
“Where there is no vision [redemptive revelation of God], the people perish.” (Proverbs 29:18 The Amplified Version)
I believe wholeheartedly that this coming year is going to make us uncomfortable. As we declared in 2025 that we were to “abide to thrive in 2025,” I believe this year is going to be a year of pruning, cutting off the things that try to choke us out. I believe it to be a year of “propping up” as well, propping up those whom we’ve deemed unworthy to be apart of the Vine.
